Egypt has condemned the recent acts of vandalism and attempted sabotage targeting the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy and the residence of its head of mission in Damascus.
In a Foreign Ministry statement on Sunday, Egypt strongly emphasised the importance of respecting international law and ensuring the protection and security of diplomatic missions and their personnel, in line with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Any targeting of diplomatic missions constitutes a clear violation of international law, the ministry stressed.
Cairo also reaffirmed full solidarity with the UAE and stressed the necessity of taking all measures needed to safeguard diplomatic missions in line with international legal obligations.
