Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk asserted that reviews with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were completed successfully, confirming that the Egyptian economy is moving in the right direction.
He noted that Egypt has implemented 14 structural reforms under the IMF-supported reform program, underscoring the government’s seriousness in stimulating economic activity and empowering the private sector.
Speaking during a meeting with social media influencers, the minister said: “We are working with the Minister of Investment on 30 measures to reduce the time and cost of customs clearance, support national industry and curb smuggling.”
He added that efforts are underway to expand the economic, productive, export, tax and customs bases by encouraging private-sector growth, stressing that “the least we can do for our financing partners is to provide easy, high-quality tax services.”
Kouchouk asserted that the societal dialogue on tax facilitations is not merely formal, but rather a genuine process of listening to and benefiting from ideas and proposals, noting that all facilitations proposed under the second tax initiative originated from the business community.
