Egypt and China marked on Saturday the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The two countries established official ties on May 30, 1956, when Egypt became the first Arab and African nation to establish official ties with China, opening a new chapter in cooperation among developing nations.
To mark the occasion, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages. Similar messages were also exchanged between the prime ministers and foreign ministers of both countries.
Over the past seven decades, relations between Cairo and Beijing have grown steadily.
The two countries have built a comprehensive strategic partnership and expanded cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
Egypt said it looks forward to strengthening ties with China and broadening cooperation in ways that support development and prosperity for both nations.
The anniversary also reflects the long-standing historical and cultural links between the Egyptian and Chinese peoples, whose civilizations date back thousands of years.
