Egypt today received presidency of the 43rd session of the Arab Minister of Social Affairs Council held in Cairo.
Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag received the Presidency of the 43rd session from Qatar’s Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam Al-Misnad, who chaired the 42nd session.
Meetings of the 43rd session kick started in Cairo yesterday and were attended by Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the organization,Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Arab Ministers of Social Affairs together with their representatives.
Addressing the session, el-Qabbag offered condolences to Kuwait over the death of late emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
El-Qabbag thanked Qatar’s al-Misnad for her efforts over the 42nd session, as well as her work and keenness to activate Egyptian-Qatari cooperation in social development fields in various relevant sectors.
The 43rd session convenes at a critical stage, with unprecedented conflicts and changes, as attacks continue around the clock on the Gaza Strip, amid collective punishment by Israel.
Since the very beginning, and responding to directives by President Abdel Fattah ElSisi, and follow-up by the First Lady, Egypt, through the Egyptian Red Crescent, has sent, to date, 4,000 shipments weighing 68,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid through the Rafah land crossing, in addition to facilitating the entry of aid from fellow Arabs totaling 9,507 tonnes.
In the meantime, the minister explained that the escalating events in the region, and the world at large, will not have the least effect on the reform efforts to build the New Republic in Egypt, under the country’s sagacious leadership, providing the best means of social care to most needy individuals and families.
The Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs offers a good opportunity to exchange visions and experiences, for the good of the Arab citizens, supporting efforts to implement the 2030 sustainable development plan.
She stressed that as part of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Human Rights Strategy 2021-2026, the Ministry of Social Solidarity carries on providing the best services to families through a unified vision whose goal is to provide care, protection, and social development for all segments of Egyptian society, starting from childhood through youth, then the elderly, and people with disabilities.
