Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, Abdel Aziz Konsowa, has held talks with Chad’s Minister of Tourism Development, Culture and Handicrafts, Abakar Rozzi Teguil, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cultural cooperation.
The meeting took place during Konsowa’s official visit to Chad for the fourth session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Committee in N’Djamena.
The two ministers discussed expanding collaboration in culture and handicrafts, including Chad’s participation in upcoming Egyptian film festivals and the Cairo International Book Fair. They also explored exchanging expertise and launching joint cultural initiatives tailored to children and young people.
Konsowa affirmed that cultural cooperation reflects the deep, longstanding ties between the two nations, highlighted by ongoing coordination between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby. He stressed the importance of capitalizing on these strong relations to broaden cooperation across all cultural sectors.
The discussions covered plans to establish a national museum in Chad, leveraging Egypt’s extensive expertise in museum management and heritage preservation. Both sides also agreed to organise joint events to promote cultural exchange, deepen people-to-people connections, and consolidate bilateral ties.
Moving forward, the ministers agreed to maintain institutional coordination and establish practical frameworks to implement these joint ventures, ensuring a sustained partnership that benefits both nations.
