Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri outlined during a phone call he received from Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly on Monday the efforts undertaken by Egypt to stabilise the ceasefire in the Sudan and its contacts with the regional and international parties concerned.
During the call, FM Shoukri underlined that contacts with the regional and international parties concerned aim at coordinating and unifying the messages that are directed to the Sudanese sides and highlighting the necessity of preventing intervention by any external parties in a way that fuels the ongoing conflict, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
For her part, the Canadian foreign minister expressed her country’s utmost concern over the deteriorating security situation in the Sudan and its impact on Sudanese civilians as well as foreign communities in the Sudan. She also expressed interest in getting acquainted with Egypt’s assessment of the current situation, and Egypt’s efforts to try to reach a ceasefire, Spokesman Abu Zeid said.

The two sides agreed to sustain consultation and coordination during the coming period in order to intensify efforts to help the Sudan overcome the current crisis, the Foreign Ministry spokesman added.
