Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA), Ahmed el-Sobky, and the Country President of Novartis Egypt, Jihane El Murr discussed on Tuesday ways to further improve joint co-operation and extend it to governorates covered by second phase of the Universal Health Insurance System, particularly pertaining to awareness and training.
The two sides agreed during the meeting to launch specialised training workshops for cardiology and oncology doctors at healthcare authority hospitals in Minya, el-Sobky said.
The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of medical staff and develop their clinical skills in line with the latest international standards, ultimately improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients, he explained.
They also agreed to roll out free periodic screening programmes for the early detection of breast cancer in Minya, the first governorate in the system’s second phase, el-Sobky noted.
The initiative will be carried out in co-operation with Novartis Egypt as part of broader state efforts to promote prevention and early diagnosis of non-communicable diseases, improve recovery rates and enhance patients’ quality of life.
The partnership with Novartis Egypt is a successful model of public-private integration in supporting medical innovation, he said, noting that expanding co-operation during the second phase, particularly in Minya, reflects the authority’s commitment to replicating successful experiences and delivering sustainable healthcare services nationwide.
For her part, El Murr voiced the importance of partnership with EHA, and highlighted the tangible achievements realised on the ground.
She reaffirmed Novartis’s commitment to expanding co-operation with the authority, particularly in early detection, oncology care, cardiology and non-communicable diseases.
Joint initiatives contribute to improving patients’ quality of life and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of Egypt’s healthcare system, she said.
