The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced on Monday the successful opening of four new export markets for Egyptian oranges, grapes and strawberry seedlings in Peru, Panama and Mexico, as part of the state’s strategy to strengthen national exports and generate additional foreign currency revenues.
The achievement reflects the continued efforts undertaken in line with the directives of the political leadership to expand the global presence of Egyptian agricultural products and enhance their competitiveness in international markets, Minister Alaa Farouk, said.
The minister had received an official report from Head of the Agricultural Services Sector, Ahmed Rizk, confirming the successful conclusion of technical negotiations conducted by the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine with the relevant quarantine authorities in the three countries, leading to the approval of market access for several Egyptian agricultural exports.
Head of the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine,Mohamed El-Mansy, stated that Peru has approved the import of Egyptian oranges, while Panama has opened its market for Egyptian grapes and strawberry seedlings. Mexico has also approved the import of Egyptian strawberry seedlings.
The Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine is currently completing the executive procedures required ahead of the commencement of exports, he added.
The ministry has received the official technical import requirements from the respective countries and is preparing technical guidance documents to brief exporters on the approved regulations and standards.
It also affirmed that these developments represent a further step in expanding the international reach of Egyptian agricultural exports, which continue to gain increased access to global markets due to their high quality and full compliance with international phytosanitary standards.
