Chairman of the General Authority for HealthCare (GAH) Ahmed el-Sobki, who is also General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, attended the 20th Turkish-Arab Economic Co-operation Forum on 16-18 August in Istanbul.
El-Sobky said in his address to the conference that Egypt is now better prepared to meet the requirements of medical tourism markets.
Medical tourism has witnessed an unprecedented boom in developing infrastructure and information technology of hospitals, enhancing medical capabilities, and providing full medical care to citizens, el-Sobky said.
Investment in health care is among Egypt’s priorities, reflecting its commitment to improving the health of all members of the public, he said.
Egypt and Turkey are inspiring models of comprehensive health coverage to countries of the northeast Mediterranean certified by the World Health Organisation, he added.
Egypt enjoys close relations with Turkey, notably in health care, including scientific and technical exchange and benefiting from advanced medical expertise and skills to improve health care, he said.
He pointed out that participation in the forum is an important opportunity for exchanging experiences, enhancing co-operation and partnerships, and consolidating economic and medical ties between Egypt and Turkey.
“Through the discussions and exchange of expertise that will take place during the forum, we are certainly committed to working together to achieve sustainable development in the field of health care and improve the health and well-being of two peoples,” he said.
For his part, Subuhi Attar, Chairman of the Association for Cooperation between Turkey & Arab Countries (TURAB), expressed his ambition to strengthen partnerships and health investment between Egypt and Turkey.
He said that the hospitals of the Egyptian Health Care Authority have won many international accreditations. They have made their mark in a relatively short time as a preferred destination for visitors from across the globe, who seek treatment.
