Egypt has succeeded in attracting the world’s attention by gaining the confidence of international sports federations and regional organisations, especially when it comes to hosting major sports competitions.

The Arab and African country scored one success after another in organising regional, continental and international sports competitions and events.

Even during peak times of the Covid-19 pandemic, Egypt was one of few countries that welcomed athletes for several international championships.

It managed to do this, partly thanks to the support its political leadership gave to sports, in general, and the huge investments it earmarked for sports infrastructure in the past years.

Egypt will host a large number of sports competitions this year.

These competitions include the following:

2022 Modern Pentathlon World Championship

Egypt will also host the 2022 Modern Pentathlon World Championship, between March 22 and 27 at the American University in Cairo stadiums.

The selection of these stadiums was based on recommendations by the committee of the International Federation of Modern Pentathlon.

The committee members visited Egypt in the past period to decide on the venue where the competition would be held, in the light of its new requirements.

Some amendments were introduced to these requirements in the past period. The new rules include close proximity between the stadiums where the contest is held (a 5-minute walk between one stadium and the other at most).

Each game will be played for 90 minutes only, according to the new rules.
