Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Monday from Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger to discuss regional developments. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and promoting dialogue, stressing the importance of supporting the U.S.–Iran negotiation track as a means to strengthen regional security. He highlighted Egypt’s continued coordination with regional and international partners and emphasized the need to safeguard international waterways as a foundation for global trade and economic stability.
The two ministers also addressed the situation in Gaza. Abdelatty warned that current escalation should not distract from implementing the U.S. President’s plan, which includes deploying an international stabilization force, ensuring unhindered humanitarian aid, and activating the Palestinian National Committee to administer Gaza.
On Lebanon, he reaffirmed Egypt’s firm support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for Israel’s full withdrawal and comprehensive implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Meinl-Reisinger praised Egypt’s constructive role in regional diplomacy. Both ministers agreed to intensify cooperation and maintain close coordination on bilateral and international issues, underlining that diplomatic solutions remain the best path to achieving peace and stability in the region.
