The 15-18 age group can now register for anti-Covid vaccination, a health ministry statement said on Wednesday.

Eight million doses of the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for vaccinating those born in 2006, the statement added.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, who is currently acting health minister, announced last Saturday the arrival at Cairo International Airport of the fourth shipment of the Pfizer vaccine.
This shipment was facilitated through the US government Cofax mechanism in cooperation with the International Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) as part of government plans to diversify and expand the vaccine supply, Abdel Ghaffar said.
Egypt has to date received 8.25 million Pfizer doses.
Health ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said the Pfizer vaccine has emergency use approval from the World Health Organisation and the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA).
Pfizer is administered in two doses 21 days apart, Megahed said.
The latest vaccine consignment will be subject to EDA testing before nationwide distribution, Megahed added.
