CAIRO – Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib said Egypt is working to align its trade policy with national development goals under Vision 2030, emphasizing that trade strategy should serve broader economic targets.
Speaking at a press conference alongside the prime minister and other Cabinet ministers, Khatib outlined six pillars of Egypt’s trade policy, with a main focus on reducing the trade deficit. He said preliminary figures for 2025 suggest the deficit could reach its lowest level since 2010.
The minister stressed that Egypt seeks to boost domestic industry without imposing restrictions on imports or production.
He said that the goal is to maintain an open market environment to attract investment and position Egypt as a regional hub, leveraging over 70 trade agreements and a strategic location supported by a decade of infrastructure development.
