Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom highlighted Egypt’s determination to expand international co-operation and leverage global expertise to advance public governance and economic reform.

During his meeting on Saturday with Amr Soliman, Head of the Egypt and MENA team at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Rostom reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to expanding co-operation with the OECD and leveraging its international expertise to enhance public policy formulation and government efficiency.

The meeting was held under the framework of the programme “Supporting Public and Economic Governance in Egypt,” implemented by the Egyptian government with OECD collaboration and funded by the European Union for 2022–2026.

He stressed the critical role of exchanging expertise and building capacities in planning and evidence-based policymaking, highlighting that such collaboration directly supports the implementation of Egypt Vision 2030.

“The programme strengthens government institutions’ capabilities in implementing and monitoring the national sustainable development agenda, while supporting the administrative reform plan led by the Central Agency for Organisation and Administration,” Rostom said.

He also underscored the importance of continuing co-operation as Egypt prepares to co-chair the OECD MENA initiative on governance and competitiveness for development during 2026–2030, alongside Italy and Turkey.

Soliman expressed the OECD’s appreciation for its partnership with Egypt, praising the country’s efforts to enhance public governance and institutional efficiency, and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to ongoing technical support and knowledge exchange.
