CAIRO – Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said a sum of EGP 118.3 billion was invested in human and social development domains in 2024-2025.

According to a press release, the minister added, in a speech at a symposium organized by the Nation’s Future Party, that the healthcare system in Egypt is witnessing a fast-paced development, referring to the comprehensive health insurance system and the efforts of the Egyptian state over the course of 10 years in attaining comprehensive development and improving all public services, especially the health system.

He stressed that the health budget has been doubled during the previous periods, which indicates the increase in the state’s spending on the public health sector, especially through raising the efficiency of the health system by developing hospitals and health centers, pointing out that spending on the health sector in the 2014-2024 period amounted to one trillion pounds.

He referred to the leap achieved in the first phase of the comprehensive health insurance system whose cost has so far reached 51.2 billion pounds, in addition to the latest developments and preparations under way to launch the second phase, which includes Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Matrouh, North Sinai and Minya with an estimated total cost of 120 billion pounds.
