The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) said on Friday the total natural gas production rates have now reached 6.8 billion cubic feet of gas per day.
All sectors were provided with natural gas with 100% and needs of the local market were fully covered with an average consumption, which exceeded six billion cubic feet daily.
The electricity sector topped the sectors consuming natural gas with up to 60%, then came the industry sector with more than 22%, which was followed by the petrochemicals and gas derivatives industry with nearly 11% and 6% was allocated for home uses and automtive supply.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Mulla chaired the company’s General Assembly meeting to review its financial results for fiscal year (FY) 2020/2021.
Mulla stressed the ministry is looking forward to more successes in the natural gas industry, which, he added has eyed big achievements over recent years.
He said the ministry is carrying out ambitious action programs in all fields of gas industry and is also seeking to lure further global investments in this vital sector, according to a statement by the ministry.
