Egypt’s Defence Expo (EDEX 2025) witnessed the launch of Drone Tech, a new national company specialising in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) services to support projects that require advanced drone technologies. The company aims to deliver high-quality outputs in record time across multiple sectors.

Certified UAV capabilities

Drone Tech Engineering Director, Eng Tarek Hassan, said the company currently operates as an authorised agent for several Egyptian state institutions, providing certified sales, maintenance, operations, geo-surveying, and inspection services.
He added that Drone Tech plans to shift from partnerships with global drone manufacturers to producing an Egyptian-made unmanned aircraft in the near future.

Supporting higher education

Hassan noted that the company has opened cooperation channels with Egyptian universities and research centres, offering spare parts and essential technologies for graduation projects and scientific research involving small-scale drones.
This support, he said, helps develop a new generation of Egyptian innovators. Drone Tech is also working with government ministries and authorities on a range of developmental applications.

Nile River geo-survey

Highlighting the economic impact of UAVs on national megaprojects, Hassan cited the recent geo-survey of the Nile River from Lake Nasser to the Mediterranean Delta.
Traditional methods required up to three years, he said, whereas drone technologies can complete the full survey in eight months with exceptional accuracy — saving time, effort, and millions of pounds.

Strategic partnerships

Drone Tech is preparing to sign co-operation agreements with major entities, including the Sukari Gold Mine — Egypt’s largest gold producer — as well as participating in projects in New Alamein City and a major initiative with Wadi El Nile Company.

Digital Twin technology

Hassan emphasised the technical advantage of drone-based surveying, which enables the creation of highly accurate 3D Digital Twin models. These models allow project teams to revisit sites virtually without on-ground inspections, significantly improving monitoring and decision-making.
Agricultural and energy applications
In agriculture, modern drones enable efficient pesticide spraying and use thermal sensors to assess plant health and identify areas affected by water shortages — particularly in desert-reclamation zones.
Drone Tech also deploys thermal and laser diagnostics to enhance the performance of solar and wind farms.
The company further supports climate-action efforts by using specialised sensors to detect methane and carbon-dioxide leaks across the oil, gas, and utilities sectors.

A rapid technological shift

Egypt is experiencing a significant leap in adopting modern drone technologies, supported by a clear legal framework and close coordination with state authorities, Hassan noted.
