CAIRO – The Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS) will organize a conference, titled “The future of the Egyptian industry in light of global transformations,” on Saturday.
In a statement on Friday, the center said the conference will discuss the successive global developments with the view to understanding their repercussions on the future of industrial business systems.
The conference will also underline the importance of training, research and development to ensure the competitiveness of the Egyptian industry, the statement added.
The manufacturing industry was the most prominent among the industrial sectors as it contributed by about 15.3% to the Gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of the current year, according to the statement.
It also comes in the third place in employment after agriculture and wholesale and retail trade, it added.
Given the importance of this sector to the Egyptian economy, the State has launched a number of plans and programs to promote the sector, including the National Structural Reform Program (NSRP).
