CAIRO – Experts at the Egyptian Centre for Strategic Studies (ECSS) said that the 33rd Arab summit hosted by the Bahraini capital, Manama on Thursday will be held at a critical and extremely dangerous time given the unprecedented challenges facing the Arab world, topped by the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and its repercussions on peace and security in the Middle East region.
The summit carries the great hopes of the Arab peoples to put pressure on the international community to stop the Palestinians’ bloodshed and grant them their inalienable right to live in peace, they said.
The ECSS Director General, Khaled Okasha, said that the “Bahrain Summit” is attaching exceptional importance as Arab leaders meet amidst extremely complicated regional circumstances, taking into consideration the Palestinian issue, which is the central issue of the Arab countries and the essence of the conflict in the Middle East.
He stressed the need for the full Arab unity to face the genocide war committed against the helpless Palestinian people to push them to flee their homeland, torpedo their cause and end the two-state solution.
The summit is a favorable opportunity for Arab leaders to clearly declare to the whole world that they back the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 as the only solution to put an end the unresolved Palestinian-Israeli conflict, he added.
