Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) Yahia al-Watheq Bellah Yahia has pressed for action to increase productivity and exports.
Speaking during the 12th workshop organized by the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) to outline scenarios to best deal with the global economic situation in 2023 and 2024, Yahia said a stable plan is needed to handle financial allocations to support exporters and enhance the use of technology in production.
This should contribute to supporting Egyptian exports after all challenges facing local investors have been addressed, the ECS head said.
He touched upon a plan to increase Egyptian exports to reach an annual of 100 billion dollars, noting it should go hand in hand with efforts to promote local components and industrialization.
How far Egyptian products meet standards of the European Union is yet another challenge that should be tackled, Yahia said, noting that this would help tap more foreign markets.
The workshop was held following directives by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli. Eighteen investors and representatives of international firms, export councils and commerce chambers attended the event.
