CAIRO – President of the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) Mahmoud Momtaz has reviewed Egypt’s successful experiment on competition protection in different sectors.
Momtaz’s remarks came at a meeting of the coordination committee of competition protection policies in the BRICS member states on the sidelines of the meetings of the UNCTAD’S 22nd session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy, held in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 3-5.
The ECA said in a statement on Thursday that the meeting also discussed issues on competition protection in different sectors and markets, in addition to developing mechanisms to cement cooperation and share experience among the BRICS member states and enforce relevant laws and policies on competition.
Each year, this intergovernmental group of experts meets to discuss ways of improving worldwide cooperation on competition policy implementation and enhancing convergence through dialogue.
