Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority (SCZone) Walid Gamal El-Din underscored that East Ismailia is a cornerstone for Sinai’s industrial development, highlighting the zone’s transformation into a fully integrated and specialised industrial hub capable of attracting strategic investments.

The remarks came during the foundation-laying ceremony for the “Development Axis for Gypsum Products” factory, in the East Ismailia (Technology Valley) Industrial Zone.

The ceremony was attended by Governor of Ismailia Akram Galal, alongside senior executives from SCZone and the governorate.

The project, aligned with SCZone’s strategic vision to stimulate investment across its industrial zones and ports, is being established with a total investment of $12 million and is expected to generate 500 direct jobs.

Spanning 50,000 square metres, the integrated facility will feature three production lines: gypsum boards, powdered gypsum, and plastic bags for packaging. The first phase of the project is scheduled to open in the second half of 2026.

Gamal Eddin emphasised that East Ismailia is a key pillar for Sinai’s industrial development. He noted that SCZone has transformed the area into a fully integrated industrial hub capable of attracting targeted investments, particularly in building materials and metal alloys.

“These initiatives not only meet domestic market needs but also expand export opportunities to regional and global markets,” he said.

He highlighted that SCZone has already attracted four industrial projects to Technology Valley, totaling $60 million in investments and creating around 1,000 direct jobs. “Our success is built on state-provided infrastructure and utilities, developed to the highest international standards, which create a stable and attractive investment environment,” Gamal Eddin added.

Governor Akram Galal expressed pride in the exceptional progress achieved by SCZone, particularly in East Ismailia and West El-Qantara. He noted that the continuous launch of new projects reflects the authority’s effective role in localising industry, and its contribution to supporting the national economy. Governor Galal also underscored the direct support of President Abdel Fattah ElSisi for ongoing development projects in Sinai and the Canal cities.
