Ambassador of Japan to Egypt Noke Masaki on Tuesday awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Professor Isam Hamza, the Dean of Liberal Arts and Culture Centre at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST).
The Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas.
Ambassador Noke extended sincere appreciation to Dr. Hamza for his great contribution to the development of Japanese studies and the promotion of Japanese culture in Egypt for more than 40 years, a statement by the Embassy said.
Dr. Hamza was a head of Japanese Language and Literature Department, Faculty of Art, Cairo University, which is the first department of Japanese language in the Middle East, as well as Dean of Faculty of Foreign languages and Translation, Misr University for Science and Technology.
Dr. Hamza expressed his gratitude for the Commendation, emphasising his eagerness to continue working to expand cooperation between the two countries in the academic field by further promoting Japanese Studies in Egypt, the statement added.
