Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received a phone call on Monday from Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, during which they discussed the distinguished bilateral cooperation between the countries and the current scene in the Middle East including the conditions in Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian and Bulgarian leaders expressed determination to capitalize on the momentum these relations picked in recent years and expand cooperation in various fields, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, and energy, to serve the mutual interests of both nations, Presidency spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
Regarding the situation in the Middle East, President el-Sisi briefed his Bulgarian counterpart on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid, emphasizing the need to immediately end the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, spokesman Fahmy said.
The Egyptian leader also highlighted the importance of the international community’s undertaking of a pivotal role recognizing the Palestinian state, thereby supporting the path for peace in the region and the two-state solution, the Presidency spokesman said.
In the same context, President Sisi warned that the continuation of the ongoing escalation would expose the region to the probabilities of the war widening regionally, which could entail grave consequences for all peoples of the region. For his part, President Radev praised Egypt’s efforts to de-escalate the situation and its formidable role as a pillar of peace and stability in the region, spokesman Fahmy said, adding that the Bulgarian leader reiterated his commitment to maintaining coordination and consultation with President el-Sisi to contribute efforts aimed at restoring security and peace in the Middle East.
