Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Rady, has visited the industrial region of Ancona in north-eastern Italy, heading a delegation that included the commercial office of the embassy.
The visit is part of a promotional tour to highlight investment and trade co-operation opportunities in Egypt, which includes Italy’s major industrial regions
Rady met the Ancona Mayor, who accompanied him on an inspection tour of the region’s key logistics facilities, including the airport, seaport, dry port, and container handling centres. They held meetings with the chiefs of the facilities to review the latest Italian and European experience in the vital sector, as well as to showcase Egypt’s modern infrastructure in the same fields.
This was followed by an investment and trade conference at the regional headquarters, attended by officials from more than 100 Italian companies and a number of business leaders from sectors including leather, timber, clothing, and electronic waste recycling.
Ambassador Rady offered a detailed presentation outlining Egypt’s development of highly advanced, technology-driven infrastructure in logistics, transport, roads, ports, airports, industrial zones, and container handling.
He also highlighted the comprehensive modernisation and digitalisation of the ports and customs sectors at home, in line with the latest global systems.
The envoy stressed that Egypt has become a regional logistics hub for energy and goods trade, making it one of the leading investment and commercial destinations for European countries.
He also outlined the components of the Robbiki Leather City, the Damietta Furniture City, and other industrial hubs across the country, as well as Egypt’s advanced investment legislation and related incentives.
Rady emphasised that two key factors underpin Egypt’s investment appeal: the stability and security it enjoys in a region facing major tensions, and the strong political will of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to attract and support investment and remove any obstacles facing investors.
Amid the ongoing geopolitical and security instability, opportunities for co-operation between friendly nations become increasingly important to safeguard national interests, support development, and improve living standards for current and future generations.
