CAIRO – The exchange rate of the US dollar against the Egyptian pound was stable during Thursday’s trading at Egypt’s major banks, after the Central Bank of Egypt rose the interest rate by 1% in March.
At the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, the dollar rate remained stable, recording LE18.37 for buying and LE18.44 for selling.
At the Commercial International Bank (CIB), the dollar exchange rate registered LE18.36 for buying and LE18.46 for selling.
As for main currencies’ exchange rates, world capital markets and banks are being affected on the back of repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, with euro prices increasing for selling and buying.
The euro price increased between 13 and 16 piasters to register LE19.99 for buying and LE 19.14 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
At the CIB, the euro price registered LE19.98 for buying and LE20.16 for selling.
The pound sterling at the NBE and Banque Misr increased between 22 and 24 piasters to register LE24.07 for buying and LE24.24 for selling.
At the CIB, the pound sterling exchange rate amounted to LE24.06 for buying and LE24.26 for selling.
The Saudi riyal price stood at LE4.89 for buying and LE4.91 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
