The ‘Be an Ambassador’ initiative, launched by the ministry, aims to build national capacities in the field of sustainable development through a series of training courses for various sectors and groups

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has announced admissions to the first group of the ‘Be an Ambassador for Sustainable Development’ Initiative — Youth Batch’, a press release announced Thursday.

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) and the ministry’s training arm contacted those admitted to the group, the release said.

The ‘Be an Ambassador’ initiative, launched by the ministry, aims to build national capacities in the field of sustainable development through a series of training courses for various sectors and groups, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala el-Said was quoted as saying.

The first group includes 100 young men and women from different governorates, the minister added.

This first batch targets young people aged 18- 35 who are members of student unions, scouts and graduates working in various fields of sustainable development.

For her part, JIGSD Executive Director, Sherifa el-Sherif said that the institute has sent emails to those accepted in the first youth batch.

The programme of the initiative is divided into several levels, el-Sherif said.

At introductory level, the trainee learns self-marketing and negotiation skills, team-building and the art of public speaking, as well as how to write a curriculum vitae and formulate a winning presentation.

At specialised level are lectures by highly qualified presenters on sustainable development topics and applications covering all fields.

Students will be monitored and given interactive tests.
