CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Trade Niven Gamea asserted Tuesday that the political leadership in Egypt pays a great attention to encouraging automotive and spare parts industry locally to reach the highest level of local manufacturing and production.
The Egyptian market possesses all the potentials that would turn it into a hub for car manufacturing in the Middle East and Africa.
This came in Gamea’s meeting with a delegation of Mercedes-Benz Egypt under the company’s President and CEO Gerd Bitterlich to discuss the current and future projects of the company in the Egyptian market and the tendency of the company to help Egypt localize the industry of electric cars in the coming stage.
The Ministry of Trade is keen on encouraging foreign investments operating in Egypt to increase its businesses especially in light of the current suitable work environment in Egypt, Gamea said.
She reiterated that the government is keen on easing all the hindrances facing investors to contribute to making Egypt a point for gathering foreign investments and increasing the exports to foreign markets.
Meanwhile, Bitterlich asserted that the company supports the tendencies of the Egyptian government to localize car industry, adding that the Egyptian market is promising and pivotal in the Middle East for manufacturing Mercedes-Benz cars.
