The Ministry of Defence’s pavilion at Cairo International Book Fair does more than just showcase the publications of the ministry.
The pavilion acts as a mini academy, offering valuable insights into the role of the Egyptian Armed Forces in both building the nation and safeguarding its capabilities.
National, historical awareness platform
The pavilion is a key space for promoting national pride and historical awareness. It combines documentary films, interactive content, and engaging activities for visitors of all ages, especially children and young people.
It also provides a platform for dialogue between army officers and citizens, fostering connections across all walks of life.
Showcasing military contributions
Visitors are drawn to the pavilion’s diverse military displays which include publications from the Air Force, the Navy, Air Defence Forces, and various military divisions.
The exhibits focus on the role of the Armed Forces in supporting national projects and infrastructure, such as those led by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.
Engaging future generations
The pavilion also features an interactive educational model, where university and school students engage directly with officers. They discuss topics like Egyptian identity and the nation’s military history, and imagine how they might one day carry on the legacy of their predecessors.
Students, including Mariam and Shaza from Ain Shams University, expressed interest in military figures and publications, while others shared dreams of joining the Air Force.
Inclusive, supportive atmosphere
The pavilion stands out for its compassionate approach to all visitors, particularly the elderly and people with disabilities, who receive personalised attention and clear explanations about the Egyptian army.
Special activities are also organised for children, while gifts are distributed to the children of the martyrs and talented youth.
Role in national development
Beyond military history, the pavilion highlights the Armed Forces’ involvement in national development projects across infrastructure, agriculture, and industry.
It also showcases innovations in defence technology, which inspire young people to pursue careers in scientific research and military engineering.
Honouring sacrifice and national responsibility
The pavilion serves as a platform for teaching young generations about the sacrifices of Egypt’s martyrs.
It instils a sense of national responsibility and encourages the values of belonging and dedication.
Through interactive screens, visitors can learn about the electronic services offered by the Recruitment Department.
Knowledge wealth
The pavilion hosts a vast collection of publications, including the following:
Egypt: History and Civilisation, an encyclopaedia produced by the Morale Affairs Department
Books on defence strategies, national security, and military figures
Simplified editions for children to help them understand the Egyptian army in an engaging and educational way
Maps, atlases, and defence-related media releases
Connecting generations
The Ministry of Defence’s pavilion also facilitates communication between generations, encouraging children and youth to learn from the past and draw inspiration from the determination of their ancestors.
It aims to shape the next generation of Egyptians who will continue the legacy of building a modern and prosperous nation.
