Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Abdel Maguid Saqr visited Saturday the Alexandria Naval Base, accompanied by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Ahmed Khalifa and Armed Forces top brass.
The visit aimed to assess the combat readiness of the Armed Forces and their preparedness to undertake assigned missions.
During the visit, Saqr attended a presentation on the security measures of the Northern Fleet’s area of operations and observed a practical demonstration of training activities, showcasing the high combat proficiency of naval personnel.
He also inspected several naval units to ensure their readiness and discussed operational methodologies and modern combat systems with specialised teams.
The minister met with naval forces personnel, where Commander of the Naval Forces Ashraf Atwa affirmed the Navy’s steadfast commitment to protecting Egypt’s coasts, territorial waters, and addressing maritime threats on all strategic fronts.
Saqr conveyed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s appreciation for the Navy’s efforts in safeguarding the nation’s borders and waters.
He extended congratulations for the New Year and the Islamic month of Rajab, emphasising Egypt’s enduring unity and its role as a model of cohesion for generations.
In his speech, Saqr reviewed regional developments and their impact on Egypt’s national security.
He stressed that the Armed Forces’ strength and readiness remain a cornerstone of Egypt’s defence strategy and a decisive deterrent against emerging threats.
Saqr also commended the unwavering commitment of military personnel to their national duties, asserting their determination to protect the homeland and its sanctities, regardless of the sacrifices required.
