A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday between the Egyptian Ministry for Military Production and the Saudi General Authority for Defense Industries to set up a partnership.
This came during a meeting held between Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah Eddin and Governor of the Saudi General Authority for Defense Industries Ahmed El-Ohali during the 3rd EDEX 2023, which opened in Cairo yesterday under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Salah Eddin spoke about his ministry’s role in meeting the demands of the armed forces from ammunitions and weapons as well as manufacturing diverse civil products and executing national development projects. He took Ahmed El-Ohali on a tour of his ministry’s pavilion.
Salah Eddin stressed his ministry’s interest in making use of the Saudi expertise in defense industries, noting that Egypt seeks to cooperate with international companies for the transfer of modern technology into Egypt, and deepening local manufacturing.
For his part, Ahmed El-Ohalisaid that there is a big opportunity for enhancing military and civil cooperation between Egypt and the KSA since both of them have robust infrastructure and high economic potentials.
He also noted that this is the third time for the Saudi General Authority for Defense Industries to take part in Egypt EDEX.
