Decent Life Foundation, in co-operation with el-Minya Governorate, held a function yesterday to help 100 brides in marriage costs. The ceremony came as part of the foundation initiative to assist the neediest people to tie the knot in line with directives from the political leadership to improve standards of living for underprivileged families nationwide.
Menya Governor Osama el-Qady attended the ceremony, during which he said that the Decent Life initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in early 2019, is one of the largest societal initiatives in the history of the Egyptian state.
“Such initiatives cannot be implemented by one organisation or state institution. All efforts must be made by the government, parliament and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to let the initiative succeed in helping the neediest communities through a scientific framework,” el-Qady said, adding that all parties have welcomed the initiative and promised to provide the necessary support.
Khaled Ahmed, Decent Life director for North Upper Egypt, who attended the function, said the ‘Happiness Lasts’ social initiative brought a decent life to hundreds of families through helping brides nationwide solve their financial problems.
Decent Life, the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Countryside, is a multi-pronged and integrated initiative, aiming at improving the living conditions and daily life of citizens, within a framework of integration and unity of efforts among the state institutions, private sector entities, civil society and development partners in Egypt.
