MINISTER of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Osama Al-Azhari said the Holy Quran Dawlet Attelawah (Recitation Kingdom) TV competition show, has evolved beyond being a simple competition, to become an institutional platform aiming at cultivating world-class reciters. In exclusive statements to The Egyptian Gazette, Minister Al-Azhari outlined his vision for the initiative to become a permanent, global path for identifying and refining Quranic talent.

The programme, in its essence, is a genuine platform for this noble goal. It is the culmination of a process spanning months of tests, eliminations, and closely contested competitions.

We have a future vision for it to become a permanent path for discovering talents, based on a comprehensive institutional effort,” Al-Azhari said.

It is part of the prize to have the Holy Quran recorded by the final two winners to be aired via Misr Quran Kareem TV channel and online application.

Winners are also meant to be members of the Ministry-run Syndicate of Quran Reciters.

Meanwhile, Al-Azhari referred to plans to support promising talents who did not qualify for the main programme by establishing a dedicated institute.

“Every truly talented individual will receive support,” he said.”My vision includes establishing a specialised institute that will provide the highest levels of care and development for these talents.

We strive to make this project a reality in the near future,” the minister told The Gazette. To prevent the loss of these early-stage talents, Al-Azhari explained that the ministry would leverage its existing Reciters’ Syndicate and the planned training institute to provide professional development both domestically and internationally.

He also noted the crucial role of modern media in boosting the reciters’ exposure.

Investment in cultivating a world-class reciter is a “national, cultural, and spiritual duty,” the minister stressed.
