Culture Minister Jehan Zaki met Tuesday with the organizing committee of the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival, headed by screenwriter Mohamed Abdel Khaleq, to review final preparations for the 10th edition of the festival, scheduled for April 20–25.
Abdel Khaleq noted that the festival, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and the National Council for Women, will feature films from 33 countries addressing contemporary women’s issues. He stressed that the festival aims not only to showcase films but also to reinforce Egyptian identity and highlight women’s role in cinema, inspired by pioneering generations who laid the foundations of Egyptian and Arab filmmaking.
