Egypt’s Culture Minister Nivene el Kilany mourned Zein Nassar, a music historian and professor of music criticism at the Academy of Arts’ Higher Institute of Art Criticism, who passed away on Sunday morning.
In statements, the culture minister lauded the career of the late music historian, who published a series of writings in major Egyptian and Arab music magazines.
Kilany offered her condolences to the family of the renowned music historian.
Nassar was born in Cairo in 1942. He graduated from the the higher institute of music education in Cairo.`
He also obtained Master’s degree in art criticism (music specialisation) in 1980 and received a PhD in music criticism from the Academy of Arts’ Higher Institute of Art Criticism in 1986.
