The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) announced on Monday that the West Port Said tourist quay received the cruise ship ASTORIA GRANDE, sailing under the flag of Palau and arriving from the Turkish port of Kusadasi, carrying 414 passengers and 409 crew members as part of its regular cruise itinerary.
During the ship’s stay, passengers are scheduled to take part in tourist programmes including visits to Port Said, as well as trips to Cairo and Giza to explore a number of archaeological and tourist attractions.
The ship is scheduled to leave the port later today and continue its voyage to the Turkish port of Antalya.
The ship’s arrival is part of SCZone’s efforts to boost maritime tourism at its ports on the Mediterranean and Red seas and enhance their readiness to receive cruise vessels while providing the necessary services for passengers and ships.
SCZone continues to develop its seaports to strengthen their operational capabilities and competitiveness in trade, logistics and maritime tourism.
ASTORIA GRANDE operates regular cruises across the Mediterranean and around the world and is owned by Goodwin Shipping Ltd. The vessel is 193 metres long, 32 metres wide and has a draft of six metres.
West Port Said enjoys a strategic location at the northern entrance to the Suez Canal, enhancing its ability to receive cruise ships and support inbound tourism to Egypt.
