Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, has returned home, with an accompanying a delegation after concluding an official visit to Italy.
During the visit, Khalifa and General Luciano Portolano, Chief of the Italian Joint Chiefs of Staff discussed a number of issues of mutual interest. Expanded talks between the two sides addressed ways to strengthen military co-operation between the Egyptian and Italian Armed Forces.
The Egyptian Chief of Staff underscored the deep-rooted and longstanding relations between the two friendly countries, voiced hopes to further expand co-operation between the Egyptian and Italian armed forces across various military fields.
For his part, the Italian Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff lauded Egypt’s active role in supporting the pillars of security and stability in the Middle East, affirming Italy’s keenness to enhance bilateral military relations in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both sides.
On the sidelines of the visit, Khalifa laid a wreath on the Rome’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, in tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in defense of their homelands.
The visit included a tour of the headquarters of the Italian Armed Forces’ Joint Operations Command, where Khalifa reviewed the operational system in place, which enjoys the highest levels of professionalism and joint co-ordination among different service branches in managing modern operations with precision and efficiency.
