The Chief of Staff of the Armed ForcesAhmed Khalifa, inspected security measures on the northeastern strategic direction. The tour began with an inspection of the forces assigned to secure the Rafah border crossing.

The Chief of Staff said that the primary mission of the Armed Forces is to protect the nation’s borders across all strategic directions, affirming that the Armed Forces heroes are capable of defending the nation’s borders generation after generation.

He stressed the importance of maintaining knowledge, willpower, and high physical fitness to ensure that all tasks are carried out with the utmost professionalism.

He also checked on the living and administrative conditions of the combat personnel and the security system of the northeastern border. Khalifa listened to a detailed briefing on the operational methods and coordination among all branches to ensure full control over the international border line around the clock.

The Chief of Staff also had lunch with the soldiers at one of the points along the international border line. He stressed the importance of understanding the tasks assigned to them, which require high vigilance and the ability to respond to all emergencies.

Lieutenant General Khalifa expressed his appreciation to the security personnel for their efforts in securing the international border line, stressing the General Command of the Armed Forces has full confidence in their capabilities and combat efficiency. He urged them not to be swayed by rumours and statements aimed at undermining the Egyptian state, which has borne much in its fight against terrorism in order to achieve the security and stability that the Egyptian people, and especially the people of Sinai, now enjoy.

The Chief of Staff then inspected several security posts in the city of Rafah, where he conveyed to the soldiers the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Lieutenant General Abdel MeguidSaqr, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production.

He advised them to preserve the security gains that have been achieved, paying tribute to the souls of the honorable martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defending the precious land of Sinai. He affirmed that the Armed Forces bear the responsibility of defending the nation’s soil, no matter the sacrifices. Khalifa also engaged in discussions with several soldiers, listening to their views and inquiries, and addressing all the topics they have raised.

The Chief of Staff followed up on operations from the Northern Sinai Security Sector Operations Centre. He reviewed the control measures and security of the development projects being implemented as part of the strategic development plan for Northern Sinai.

He praised the high morale of the Armed Forces heroes and their genuine will to sacrifice everything for the sake of protecting the nation and safeguarding its sanctities. On the sidelines of the visit, Khalifa met with the Governor of North Sinai and the Director of Security to ensure continued coordination to serve the aspirations of the people of Northern Sinai in implementing comprehensive development plans and providing a decent life for them.

The inspection tour was attended by the Commander of the Border Guards, the Deputy Chief of the Armed Forces Operations Authority, the Commander of the Second Field Army, the Acting Chief of Military Intelligence, the Commander of Special Forces, and several top military officers.
