Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathi, and Minister of Culture, Ahmed Hano took part Thursday night in the commemoration of the 70thanniversary of the Coptic Studies Institute as well as the 12thanniversary of the accession of Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark.
Minister Fathi praised the institute’s diverse specialisations and studies, including 13 departments such as law, culture, art, heritage, architecture, music documentation, and other studies.
Fathi lauded co-operation between the tourism ministry and the Coptic StudiesInstitute, which is represented in the Permanent Committee for Islamic and Coptic Antiquities, citing collaboration in the restoration and documentation of some archaeological sites in Egypt.
He also lauded a joint project to develop the Holy Family’s tripto Egypt, noting that several sites are ready to receive visitors and tourists.The Holy Family walked from Bethlehem to Gaza until the Al-Zaraniq Reserve, 37 km west of Al-Arish, and entered Egypt through the northern side of Al-Farma located between the cities of Al-Arish and Port Said.
For his part, Pope Tawadros II praised Egypt’s cultural richness, citing the ancient Egyptian, Coptic, Islamic, Arab, African, Mediterranean, and Greco-Roman civilizations.
