Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended Saturday the signing ceremony of a contract establishing a joint-stock company between El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company and two partners; Singaporean-Taiwanese Tron Technology and UAE-based Your Transit.
The new company aims to manufacture the first electric minibus in Egypt, with a capacity of 24 passengers, serving urban transport and the tourism sector.
Production is planned to begin mid-2025, targeting 300 buses annually by 2026.
Additionally, the company will establish an electric battery production line with a capacity of 600 batteries annually, with plans to double production from 2027.
The event marked the reopening and resumption of bus production at the Al Nasr Automotive plant after a 15-year hiatus.
During the event, Madbouli reviewed the ongoing development work at the company, which aims to restore its prestigious status as a cornerstone of Egypt’s industrial sector.
Minister of Public Enterprises Mohamed Shimi highlighted the significance of this milestone, calling it a historic day that reflects the Egyptian state’s determination, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s leadership, to advance national industry.
He emphasized the Ministry of Public Enterprises’ commitment to developing its affiliated companies in line with Egypt Vision 2030 for sustainable development.
This achievement, Shimi noted, was made possible through collaborative efforts, the persistence of the company’s workforce, and the state’s continued support for Egypt’s industrial sector to meet global standards.
