Concrete Plus, one of Egypt’s leading engineering and construction companies, announced the signing of contracts for two strategic railway projects in Egypt through an Egyptian-French consortium, under agreements signed with the Egyptian National Railways (ENR). The projects support the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure and strengthen logistics connectivity.
The contract signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Transport Kamel el-Wazir.
The agreements were signed by Eng. Mohamed Amer, Chairman of the Egyptian National Railways, Eng. Ramy Salaheldeen, Managing Director of Alstom Egypt, and Eng. Tarek Youssef, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Concrete Plus. The ceremony was attended by Pascal Furth, Economic Counsellor and Head of the Economic Department at the French Embassy in Cairo; Eng. Wagdy Radwan, Deputy Minister of Transport for Railways and Tunnels Affairs; and Martin Vaujour, President of Alstom Africa, Middle East and Central Asia (AMECA).
The projects include the Cairo–Alexandria Railway Corridor (Lot 2), which involves the construction and upgrading of railway infrastructure along a 117-kilometre corridor, together with associated signaling upgrades, as well as the Robeiki–10th of Ramadan–Belbeis Railway Line, which is designed to strengthen logistics connectivity between industrial zones, ports, and major trade hubs, contributing to improved freight transportation efficiency and supporting economic development.
These projects represent a significant milestone in the modernisation of Egypt’s transportation infrastructure and support the country’s vision of developing an integrated multimodal transportation network.
They are backed by leading international financial and development institutions, including the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the European Investment Bank (EIB), reflecting their strategic importance and long-term impact on Egypt’s logistics and transportation sectors.
