Egypt’s Public Treasury and Mint Authority is represented at the Finance Ministry’s pavilion in the Green Zone of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27).
The authority is promoting the commemorative coins, medals and awards it produces.
Minister of Finance Mohamed Maeet said a commemorative LE100 note was issued to highlight the historic event at Sharm, which seeks to turn pledges by advanced countries into serious initiatives that can be applied on the ground to boost the potential for African and emerging countries to carry out green projects and achieve sustainable development, an official statement said.
Head of the authority pointed to noticeable high demand at COP27 for commemoratives.
A set of Tutankhamun medals, marking the 100th anniversary of discovery of the boy king’s tomb, a set of medallions marking the 1,050th anniversary of the founding of Cairo, and 11 medals struck during the Khedive era (1805-1952) are among the items on display.
