LONDON- US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns Saturday said that the US is maintaining working with Egypt towards ending Gaza crisis.

A final ceasefire proposal and hostage deal will be outlined soon, Burns said during a meeting with Chief of the UK Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) Chief Richard Moore on Saturday in London.

Burns underscored Washington’s keenness on securing a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza alongside ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

He added that Washington will continue work to secure a deal throughout the few coming days after reaching a consensus on 90 percent of the items of the deal.

The US top security official warned of the risks of the continuation of this conflict in the Middle East, urging exerting further efforts to find an appropriate formula to end the Gaza crisis shortly, according to Sky News.

A lot is at stake for Palestinians and Israelis, as well as strategically in the region, Burns was quoted by the CNN as saying.

“But above all, what’s at stake is “in human terms,” he said, pointing to the hostages held in “hellish conditions” in Gaza and the suffering of Gaza residents amid a worsening humanitarian crisis,” he added.
