Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem held talks with a delegation from China’s Jiangsu Changhong Intelligent Equipment Co., led by Chairwoman Qiu Yunjie, on the company’s plans to establish a $20 million advanced industrial complex in Egypt.
The project will provide integrated solutions for the automotive sector, including production line equipment, smart industrial systems, and consultancy services for factory planning and design, the ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
Hashem said Egypt’s industrial strategy aims to shift from vehicle assembly to full-scale manufacturing, increase local content and enhance value-added production. He noted that the ministry is working to attract leading global carmakers and advanced manufacturing technology companies to position Egypt as a regional hub for automotive production and exports.
The minister added that the government’s efforts extend beyond manufacturing projects to include technology transfer, capacity building and the training of Egyptian engineers in industrial engineering, smart manufacturing and digital transformation.
He highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages, including its strategic location, modern infrastructure, extensive trade agreements and skilled workforce.
For her part, Jiangsu Changhong Chairwoman Qiu Yunjie praised Egypt’s industrial progress and investment climate, reaffirming the company’s interest in building a long-term partnership with the country.
Qiu also outlined plans to collaborate with academic and research institutions, harness artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation technologies, and develop advanced industrial solutions to support the future growth of Egypt’s auto industry.
