The Egyptian Ministry of Manpower has plans for a database of casual workers in the public and the private sectors.

This announcement by Reda el-Araby, head of the ministry’s Casual Employment Account Management Unit, came in statements to the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Sunday.

More than 2.5 million casual workers will be registered in phase one of the database scheme in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives on this matter, el-Araby said.
El-Araby added that Manpower Minister Hassan Shehata had given instructions for the completion of the database with a view to providing seasonal employees health and social services.

To date, 331,688 casual workers in the public sector are registered on the central database, el-Araby added.

Ministerial Decrees 253/2007 and 162/2019 on casual employees are due to be amended, the official added.
These efforts come under a protocol signed with the National Organisation for Social Insurance (NOSI), he said.
