CAIRO – The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Arab countries hit $29.2 billion in 2022, compared to $25.2 billion in 2021 with an increase of $ 4 billion, according to the Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In a statement issued Thursday, the CAPMAS said Egypt exports to Arab countries rose by $ 1 billion to reach $ 12.2 billion in 2022, compared to 2021, with an increase rate of 9.3%.
In 2022, Saudi Arabia ranked first among the top ten Arab countries importing from Egypt, followed by the UAE, Libya, Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon, the CAPMAS added.
Egypt imports from Arab countries rose 21.6%. to reach $17 billion in 2022, compared to $14 billion in the same period in 2021, it said.
The list of top Arab exporters to Egypt included Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Sudan, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria and Libya, it added.
According to CAMPAS, Arab investments in Egypt spiked 163.8%, to hit $8.2 billion in FY 2021/2022 compared to $3.1 billion in FY 2020/2021.
