Cameroon’s Minister of Housing and Urban Development Célestine Ketcha lauded on Sunday Egypt’s efforts to develop unsafe areas and turn them into modern urban areas, with a view to enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
She said her country looks forward to benefiting from Egypt’s technical support to develop unsafe areas in Cameroon.
Ketcha made the remarks while she was inspecting the projects to develop the Maspero Triangle area, the Sour Magra El Oyoun area and Ain Al Sira Lake in Cairo Governorate.
She was accompanied by Cameroonian Ambassador in Cairo Mohamadou Labarang and other officials from Cameroon’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, as well as Mohamed El Ghamrawy, the head of the Development Authority of Sour Magra El Oyoun, Maspero Triangle and Ain Al Sira Lake.
The Maspero Triangle development project is an ambitious plan to turn the slum area in the heart of Cairo into a modern financial and residential hub to attract local and foreign investments.
Ghamrawy said the Sour Magra El Oyoun development project includes building a number of residential buildings, a hotel and a commercial mall that comprises restaurants, cinemas and an outdoor theater.
He noted the Ain Al Sira Lake development project contributed to transforming the lake from a place for waste and dead animals into a vibrant lake with green parks on its banks.
