Egypt, KSA sharing view on need for peaceful resolution of region’s crises
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Monday Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, in a meeting that focused on strengthening bilateral relations and coordinating positions on key regional issues.
Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said President Sisi welcomed the Saudi foreign minister and asked him to convey his greetings to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The president praised the wise Saudi leadership’s efforts to achieve development and prosperity in the Kingdom, reaffirming Egypt’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Saudi Arabia across various fields.
He also welcomed ongoing efforts to arrange the first meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council and stressed the importance of intensifying bilateral coordination on issues of mutual interest and ongoing regional crises.
For his part, Prince bin Farhan conveyed the greetings and appreciation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salmanto President Sisi, affirming his country’s commitment to further strengthening its deep-rooted relations with Egypt and enhancing political consultations between the two brotherly countries.
The talks also addressed a number of regional issues of mutual concern, with both sides affirming the convergence of Egyptian and Saudi positions on the need to reach peaceful solutions to regional crises in a manner that preserves the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, particularly in Sudan, Yemen, Somalia and the Gaza Strip.
In this context, President Sisi commended Saudi Arabia’s efforts to host a comprehensive conference bringing together southern Yemeni factions to engage in dialogue on the southern cause.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty, Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al-Farhan, Adviser to the Saudi Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and Saudi Ambassador to CairoSaleh bin Eid Al-Hussaini attended the meeting.
