President of Cairo University Mohamed Osman el-Khosht reviewed the efforts of the university to implement a national strategy to combat corruption through incorporating a number of reform and awareness measures inside the educational edifice.
The Cairo University president said the university is among the first Egyptian universities and institutions implementing financial inclusion.
This came during Khosht’s meeting with Regional Representative for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) Cristina Albertin to discuss and exchange points of view on the issues of drugs and crimes and within the framework of Global Resource for Anti-Corruption education and youth Empowerment (GRACE) Initiative.
The initiative is adopted by the UNODC and is implemented inside the Egyptian universities upon the directives of the Egyptian political leaderships.
The university allocated a premises for a fund dedicated for combating and treating drug addiction to raise the students’ awareness about ways to prevent drug addiction, Khosht said.
Meanwhile, Albertin reviewed the role and efforts exerted by the office via working with governmental and non-governmental bodies to stand against the threats of crimes and the negative impact of corruption, in addition to combating terror.
Albertin said the office focuses on the preventive side to protect youth from being dragged to any crime.
