CAIRO – Egypt’s Ambassador to Serbia Bassel Saleh asserted Cairo’s rejection of the collective punishment policies committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Gaza Strip.

The ambassador asserted the necessity of reaching an immediate and unconditioned ceasefire alongside ensuring the sustainable delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip.

This came at a meeting between Arab accredited ambassadors in Serbia and Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic to expound stance of Arab countries regarding the unprecedented Israeli military assaults against Gaza.

The Egyptian ambassador condemned the forced displacement attempts of Palestinians by the Israeli government through the unabated launching airstrikes and a prolonged siege, in a blatant violation of all relevant international laws and resolutions.

Ambassador Saleh highlighted the time-honored relations between Serbia and Arab countries as well as its historic support to the Palestinian cause.

Meanwhile, the Serbian foreign minister expressed deep concern and sorrow regarding the continuation of armed conflict in Palestine which has left several people dead, including children, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said on its official Facebook page.

The conflict has contributed to causing several humanitarian catastrophes to Gaza residents, the Serbian top official said.

Serbia denounces all forms of terrorism and calls for supporting the peace process to ensure achieving the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, in line with the international law and relevant UN resolutions, the Serbian foreign minister added.
